Hello All! Here are the newest pictures of the little twerp. She's taken a step or two (usually toward the dog) but isn't in to the whole walking thing yet. We're all home together for a few weeks (yeah!). It finally started snowing around here--Elke loves it. We're not sure where we'll be for the holidays--depends on the weather. Elke's birthday is coming up and this is her first Christmas so...more pictures to come in the near future. We hope you are all well and wish we could magically be with everyone for the holidays!

Been a while...
Sorry it's been so long. Elke's doing really well--standing, cruising, saying "Dada," chasing the dog around, dancing (she's got rhythm!), waving hello and goodbye, making faces, and just generally being cute. No teeth yet...walking in the near future? Here's a ton of pictures to peruse.

Back to School
Well, we're all back to school now. Elke is adjusting pretty well. She seems to enjoy Chaucer in the original Middle English, so that's pretty cool. Elke's really growing fast. She crawls and pulls herself up. She's even cruising a little. We haven't posted for a while, so here are some picks and a movie.

Rodeo Weekend
Well, Elke went to her first Rodeo this Labor Day weekend. Other than the squealing pigs (note the picture of Elke crying), Elke really enjoyed the fair and rodeo. Elke's still scooting most of the time but is starting to mix in some proper crawling too. Grandma Jan just spend a couple of days taking care of Elke while Dustin was out of town (Congrats, Mitch and Jenny!). Other than that, no big news. Hope every one is well!

Back to School
Summer is starting to wind down out here. Maggie goes back to work on Monday (and will really miss Elke!). Dustin has until the end of September and then he's back too. Here are a few pictures of the twerp. She seems to like her bucket more than the toys in the bucket. We'll post rodeo pictures after Labor Day (yee ha!).

Firsts and Reunions
Elke has met a ton of people this summer! We drove to Colorado for a Sander family reunion. Elke got to meet her Great-Grandma, Great-Grandpa, Papa Bob, Grandma Kathy, lots of cousins, aunts, uncles, and family friends. It was great to see everybody! Elke has now been in six states! Elke scoots across the floor like a champ, waves to everything, and is starting to clap (thanks to Grandma Jan!). It's amazing how fast she learns!

Happy Camper
Hello all,
Elke went on her first camping trip last Wednesday and Thursday. We went to Owhi-Cooper Lake which is just north of Cle Elum. It was absolutely gorgeous. We go on another trip this week...off to Colorado for the Sander Family Reunion. We're looking forward to the visit.
In other Elke news, Elke has learned how to wave and how to inch/creep across the floor. She is also perfecting her monster face smile (you'll see it in several pictures below). She is so much fun these days!

July Johnson
A lot has been going on since we last posted. Elke started sitting up on her own on June 19th and hasn't stopped since! Grandma Jan came over to celebrate the 4th of July with little Elke. We all, with the exception of the dog who was with grandparents (thank you!), went to Milwaukee to hang out with Kat, Jason, Jack, and new baby Lucia (okay, and Chaplin too). Then Elke got to spend some time up in Sequim with Grandpa Stanley, Grandma Kitty (Abuelita?), Uncle Mack, and Aunt B.B. It's been a full month so far!
Here are the newest pictures of Elke and family.

Elke Is Six Months Old!!
Elke turned six months old on July first. She really is growing up fast. She even sits up on her own now. Last night we caught her in her crib wearing a smoking jacket and reading Moby Dick.
We have a busy summer planned. Grandma Jan is coming out for the fourth of July. And we're going to Milwaukee and Denver later in the summer. Here are some new pics and a video for your enjoyment.

Elke June
It's June...that means summer break! We are loving all the time we have to hang out with our family. Elke is doing really well. She got to meet her Uncle Brandon and Aunt Sara last week-we all had a really good time. Let's see, what else is new...Elke has been eating some more new things these days-carrots, pears, squash, and bananas. She also got a buzz cut, courtesy of Dad. Her hair was pretty scraggly so we cut it all the same length-same do as her pops. She's not crawling yet, but is pushing up on to her knees-so maybe soon. That about wraps it up.
We also want to welcome Lucia Renee Meyler,Elke's new (6.19.08) cousin!

MAY I roll over please?
Hello All,
Elke's been pretty active lately. She's got rolling on to her belly mastered. We put her in her crib on her back...but she immediately rolls over to sleep on her stomach. As a result, we've had some nights with 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep (six is probably the standard though). Elke's also been eating some new things. These fine foods are currently on the menu:rice cereal with apple juice, sweet potatoes (she's not a fan), and peaches. She'll give bananas and squash a try next. One thing's for sure, the kid loves to eat! Elke's also been typing up a storm, it's a new fascination that we find entertaining. We both (the parents that is) have two weeks of school left. The end of the year crunch is pretty stressful...but the promise of a few months with nothing to do but hang out with Elke looms large!
Here's a slide show of the newest pictures (we also put one still picture on there for our "dial-up family").

April
Hello all. Here's a slide show of the most recent photos (and a video) of little Elke. Actually, she's getting big really fast. She's officially out of her 0-3 month clothes and into the next size. Last time we weighed her she came in at 15 pounds (growing like a proverbial weed!). New developments: She rolled over from her back to her belly and back again--she likes to laugh when we sneeze--she might be ready for a little cereal. Well, that's all from the Eburg front for now. Hope everyone is well.

Out Like a Lamb?
Elke's had lots of visitors this month. She got to meet her Aunt Kat and Cousin Jack. Uncle Mack and Aunt B.B. came out to see everyone too. Elke's becoming more and more interactive--smiling and laughing. We're pretty excited to see what she'll do next, especially since we had the chance to hang out with little Jack. We've had crazy weather here, lots of snow and pretty chilly. Hopefully Spring will come in April! Here are our most recent photos for you all to peruse.
P.S. Congratulations to the Cunninghams on their new addition, Emil Adderley Cunningham.Saturday, March 8, 2008
Ch . . . Ch . . . Changes
Maggie went back to work on the 28th of February. It has been a bit of adjustment for us all, but we're getting along okay. Grandma Kitty came out and helped last week. We loved having her here.
Some pics for Elke's many fans.

We are starting to take a lot of pictures.
I know it has been a couple of weeks since we posted, but the upside is that we have a lot of new pics.
Here's a nice one of our nascent family unit.
Maggie goes back to work this upcoming Thursday, so we're all in for a big change. However, we're gonna get some help from Mag's mom, and then we'll both be on spring break for a few weeks. Anyhow, we hope all is going well for everybody.

Elke is one month old!
Hello everybody. Elke is doing pretty good. We've had a rough week or so. Elke was sick and didn't want us to sleep through any of it. But she's getting better now, and we're all sleeping pretty good at night.

Thought you might like to see a short video of the tike.
And here is another slide show of new pics.
We hope you are all doing well.

Kittitas County's First Baby of 2008!

It turns out that we had the first baby of 2008 in our county. As a result we are on the first page of the Ellensburg Daily Record! We also won hundreds of dollars in gifts and prizes from the community. Here is a link to the article: First Baby Is a Girl! They got most everything right, but we were disappointed to see that they made a mistake where it counts the most--they screwed up the grandparents' names. Most notably, they neglected to include Grandma Kathy.
Other than that, we just want to thank everyone for their support and love. We wish you all could see little Elke in person, but we're sure you all will in time.

Elke Stanley Sander
Our baby girl, Elke Stanley Sander, was born on January 1, 2008 at 12:29am. She is doing very well as is her mother. She was 8 pounds, 1 ounce and 19 inches long at birth. Here is a slide show of pictures. If you want to download or see one of the pictures larger, just click on the show as it moves.
