Life at Home

Hello All,
Here are the latest pictures of our family. Elke and Bea are doing really well. Elke is still crazy about Beatrix. She' going a little nuts from being home all the time. She is so smart and kind. Bea is growing like a weed. Last time we checked she was already 9 pounds. She smiles all of the time (really, not just gas!)and has already been trying to mimic us sticking out our tongues. We are totally in love with our little family and are so glad to have this time off together. Be sure to check out the video below of Elke dancing to the band Pavement.

Bringing Bea Home!!

We brought Beatrix home on 1/7/10 in the afternoon. Elke was beyond excited to have a baby sister at home. She just wants to hug her, kiss her, and sing to her all the time. Elke is also very helpful--so far she is a great big sister. We are all settling in at home and enjoying our newly augmented family. Here are more pictures.

November and Most of December 2009

We had a nice Thanksgiving with Papa and Grandma. We're all home on winter break right now (yeah!). The new addition is still due on January 15th (8am). We are all excited and curious about how things will change around here. Hope all is well.

October and Elke's Exciting Halloween

Sorry it's been so long since our last post. We've all been really busy with school. Elke's getting smarter every day, and Maggie's getting larger! Here are some pictures going all the way back to Dustin's birthday. Also, a few of you have asked what we need. We put some ideas on our old registry---they're just ideas. We're not picky! Zoo and Besos

Here's some recent pictures--including a visit from family and our trip to the Woodland Park Zoo where Elke got to hang out with her old (ok, 9 month old) friend Rhia and a bunch of other animals. We had a great time.

Here's a video of Elke's relatively new talent--although now when you ask her if you can have a kiss, she shakes her head "no." Sassy, sassy.

We'd also like to welcome Major Robert Sander--Born 3.4.09--Congratulations Brandon and Sara!

Milestones

Elke's been busy. Since we last posted, Elke has had her first Christmas, first birthday, first teeth, and first few steps! We all went up to grandma and grandpa Stanley's house in Sequim for Christmas Eve and Day. And Elke's grandma and grandpa Jan and Doug came to our house for Elke's birthday. We got a lot of snow this year, and Elke enjoyed watching it all fall. Thank you to everyone for all the generous gifts and well-wishes. We're all back in school now until spring break, so it's back to the grindstone. Here are a couple slideshows and videos.

Been a while...

Sorry it's been so long. Elke's doing really well--standing, cruising, saying "Dada," chasing the dog around, dancing (she's got rhythm!), waving hello and goodbye, making faces, and just generally being cute. No teeth yet...walking in the near future? Here's a ton of pictures to peruse.

July Johnson

A lot has been going on since we last posted. Elke started sitting up on her own on June 19th and hasn't stopped since! Grandma Jan came over to celebrate the 4th of July with little Elke. We all, with the exception of the dog who was with grandparents (thank you!), went to Milwaukee to hang out with Kat, Jason, Jack, and new baby Lucia (okay, and Chaplin too). Then Elke got to spend some time up in Sequim with Grandpa Stanley, Grandma Kitty (Abuelita?), Uncle Mack, and Aunt B.B. It's been a full month so far!
Here are the newest pictures of Elke and family.

MAY I roll over please?

Hello All,
Elke's been pretty active lately. She's got rolling on to her belly mastered. We put her in her crib on her back...but she immediately rolls over to sleep on her stomach. As a result, we've had some nights with 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep (six is probably the standard though). Elke's also been eating some new things. These fine foods are currently on the menu:rice cereal with apple juice, sweet potatoes (she's not a fan), and peaches. She'll give bananas and squash a try next. One thing's for sure, the kid loves to eat! Elke's also been typing up a storm, it's a new fascination that we find entertaining. We both (the parents that is) have two weeks of school left. The end of the year crunch is pretty stressful...but the promise of a few months with nothing to do but hang out with Elke looms large!

Here's a slide show of the newest pictures (we also put one still picture on there for our "dial-up family").
